Prophetic Word on

Pomegranates

The pomegranate is very special to me. It is a symbol of abundance and righteousness. There is a belief that the fruit contains 613 seeds, corresponding to the 613 commandments (mitzvot) in the Torah. It is eaten during the New Year as a declaration of a sweet and fruitful year ahead (cf. Deuteronomy 8:8).

When the Lord speaks to me about the pomegranate, He speaks to me about abundance. It was one of the fruits of promise when Israel was preparing to occupy the land (Numbers 13:23). It stood as evidence that what God had spoken was fruitful, rich, and true.

Pomegranates have also been seen on Israel’s coinage—another association with wealth, value, and inheritance. But more than natural wealth, it points to spiritual richness.

First Fruits

What is interesting to me is the gifts God gives us as we enter into this promised land. Three fruits are present as first fruits:

  • The mighty grapes—so large that two men had to carry them (Numbers 13:23)

  • Figs—representing peace and dwelling securely

  • Pomegranates—symbolising abundance and righteousness.

In a prophetic word the Lord gave me over the Passover period 5786 at the arrival of first fruits, He said,

“I (Jesus) will take you over the finish line.”

This speaks of an eternal promise—of the day when we stand before Him in heaven (2 Timothy 4:7–8). He is the One who brings us through, who completes what He started (Philippians 1:6).

Each man will own a pomegranate.

But will you stand before Him with a pomegranate full of seeds (jewels)? Or will you stand before Him with a pomegranate barely full?

Each man is judged according to his works (2 Corinthians 5:10), and each man is given a pomegranate.

How many jewels do you carry?

God uses the heart as a metaphor for the pomegranate.

The outer shell is the visible part to everyone, but the inner parts of our hearts can be filled with jewels

or filled with nothing. God sees what is in our hearts, and only He can know how much—or how little—is within.

When we stand before Him, all will be revealed, whether little or much.Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will keep

My commandments” (John 14:15). How can we keep all 613 commandments? Well, in Him—our Passover Lamb—we can (1 Corinthians 5:7; Romans 8:4).

If the heart is like the pomegranate, then what we treasure determines what fills it. The seeds—the jewels within—are formed by what we love, what we pursue, and what we give ourselves to.

If our treasure is in this world, then our hearts will be filled with things that do not last. But if our treasure is in Him, then our hearts begin to fill with things of eternal value— true jewels in righteousness, obedience, faithfulness, and love.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).

God is not looking at the outer shell—what is seen by man—but at the inner substance of the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). What we store up within becomes the true measure of our lives.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth… but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19–20).
